Why Epossumondas Has No Hair on His Tail, by Coleen Salley

Mama Possum tells a Story

Why Epossumondas Has No Hair on His Tail, by Coleen Salley

Coleen Salley’s book, Why Epossumondas Has No Hair on His Tail, features her character, Epossumandas, who wonders why he does not have a nice, fluffy tail like his friend Skunk. After he asks his Mama, she tells him the story of his great-great-grandpa, Papapossum.

In her story, Papapossum’s stomach is grumbling and in order to hush it he goes to find persimmons. Along the way, he bumps into his friend Hare who tells him about some persimmon trees tended to by Bear. Hare maps out a plan for how they will go about attaining the fruit and Papapossum eagerly agrees to it.

Will they be able to quiet Papapossums stomach with some delicious persimmons or will Bear sniff them out? And how does Papapossum wind up with no hair on his tail? Hmmmm…
