True Colors, by Kristin Hannah

In a small town in Washington, three sisters become best friends after their mother’s death. The oldest seeks her fathers approval, the middle sister becomes the peacemaker, and the youngest sister is the star of the family.

Winona, the oldest, becomes the town lawyer. Luke, her secret crush in high school, returns to town and falls in love with her youngest sister, Vivi Ann, resulting in jealous betrayal. Aurora, the middle sister who has her own secrets, recognizes Winona’s true feelings for Luke and tries to get Winona to tell her little sister because she can see that Vivi Ann is not really in love with Luke. Meanwhile, Vivi Ann falls for the new ranch hand who later is arrested for murder. Throughout all the trials that reach the Grey family, their father desires to maintain his standing in the community and continues to expect their loyalty.

True Colors was very easy to read at a fast pace. It definitely held my attention. A story about family love and devotion, tears and heartache, and struggle and triumph.

  1. This is a very touching story about three sisters, family, and loving so much it hurts. Three sisters band together after their mother's death and grow up loving each other and clinging to each other. But jealousy crept in some how and that jealousy threatens to destroy their relationship, while at the same time the youngest sister pays the worst price through it all. This story was well written, and touching. I couldn't help but to cry with not only sadness, but with regret and joy. This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys books about family and love.
