Somewhere Safe With Somebody Good, by Jan Karon

For fans of the Mitford series of books by Jan Karon, this wonderful new volume answers the question, “Whatever happened to…” that often comes up when one finishes a favorite book or series.

Father Tim Kavanagh has been retired for a few years, has taken trips both to Holly Springs, MS, and his ancestral roots in Ireland, and now is back to Mitford. He may be retired, but he is far from idle.

Father Tim spends his time doing pretty much what he has always done: helping people in need. From his adopted son, Dooley, to his extended Mitford family, to new-found friends and neighbors, he continues to epitomize what it means to have a calling, even without a pulpit to preach in. He helps out where needed, lends a hand—and an ear—or even goes out in the middle of the night or the middle of a snow storm to take care of Mitford’s own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it to anyone who, in our stressed-out world, just wants to find themselves “somewhere safe, with somebody good.”
