A Bone to Pick, by Charlaine Harris

Aurora Teagarden, "Roe", is a librarian in her late 20's and while she dates, she would like to be in a serious relationship. Her recent boyfriend dumped her and then quickly married and now she lives across the street from the happy newlyweds.

Actually, the house she now lives in (and a half of a million dollars), was inherited from a casual friend, Jane Eagle, who recently passed. Their friendship was based on their shared fascination with real life crimes and fictional mystery.

However, the real mystery is the skull with a hole in it that was hidden in her new home. Roe was left the task of finding out who died and who committed the murder. Apparently, she is not the only one who wants to know, as someone had broken in, and searched for the skull.

Was she in danger?
