The Long Way Home, by Mariah Stewart

Ellis Chapman drives into the town of St Dennis to see a lawyer about her inheritance. She has had a very rough year with her father and fiance being convicted of swindling billions of dollars from innocent investors.

She was also investigated to see if she had been involved. While they finally determined she had no knowledge of what was happening, she lost everything. The only thing left was her inheritance in St Dennis. She decided to use the name Ellie Ryder so no one would know who she was and so she would not get involved with the people of St Dennis.

Fortunately, St Dennis will show her there are good people who will not judge her because of what her father has done. She will discover her mother’s family and how they were involved in the community.

There is a little bit of romance and a little bit of mystery. I recommend this book if you are looking for something to read that makes you feel good. It is a gentle, cozy romance/mystery. I also recommend that you read all the Chesapeake Diaries books.
