Theodore Boone Series, by John Grisham

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer

Theodore Boone is a 13 year old boy with lots of knowledge of law. His mother and father are both lawyers and he has taken up the trade, at least as a kid. In this book, he gets special permission for his class to go to a murder trial to observe. He has a lot of pull with the judges and is very familiar with the court house. He is always giving advice to his friends and helps them solve their problems. One of his friends comes to him with a big problem involving a high-profile murder trial. Theo comes to the rescue with help from his family.

Theodore Boone: the Abduction

This book is about the abduction of April Finnemore. She was taken in the dead of night and Theodore Boone was the last person to speak with her. Theodore wants to help find April, his best friend, and uses his wit and skill to do just that. Everyone is worried about April and Theodore organizes a search with his friends. When a body is washed up on the shore, the town gets more and more worried about April and wonders if she is alive or dead. He has a clever uncle that offers some great advice. Check out this book to find out the ending good or bad. This book is a great read. Grisham does a great job with this series.

Theodore Boone: the Accused

Theodore Boone is accused of theft and is the No.1 suspect of the Strattenburg police. To make matters worse, someone is slashing his bike tires and messing with his locker. A local store is robbed and computers are found in his locker. He has a comfortable life but it gets turned upside down. Theodore is forced to take matters into his own hands. He turns to his black-sheep Uncle Ike, who comes up with a possibly unethical plan to prove Theodore’s innocence. There is suspense and humor in all of these books.

Theodore Boone: the Activist

This book was the best in the series so far. Theodore is famous for his legal prowess. One of his schoolmates, Hardi Quinn, seeks advice when his family farm is threatened by a proposed highway bypass. When the boys start to investigate, it turns out the project is a plan for the rich and will not benefit the surrounding community. The plan is to build a bypass eliminating the Quinn family farm and adding lots of pollution for the community elementary school, and the soccer complex. As he investigates, he runs into some shady characters. Theodore fights for his friends and what is right and he defeats the crooked developers as well as the city council and the governor. This is an adventure-packed story with humor as the kids fight for what they believe is right.
