Leap of Faith, by Danielle Steel

Cinderella Romance?

In this book, a young child that loses her parents is sent to live with an Aunt who gives her no sympathy or love. The young girl, Marie-Ange works on her aunt’s farm then works her way through school.

At age twenty-one, she gets the once in a lifetime opportunity to go back to her home in France. In visiting the chateau of her childhood, she meets a widower who lets her see her former home. She decides to stay in France and becomes closer to the widower and their relationship grows until she marries him and has a family. Only after it is too late does she find out he was a con in a very expensive and dangerous sort of way.

Marie-Ange’s ‘Leap of Faith’ came in more than one form, but ultimately saved her life. I thought the book was a little sad, but life does not always have the happy endings we expect.
